2010 marks our tenth year of business at Brightwood Vineyard and Farm! From our humble start, growing only one acre of pumpkins, we have now added many other enterprises to our mix, including certified organic berries, grapes, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, as well as meat goats, sheep, and laying hens. We encourage customers to visit our farm for produce, meat, and eggs, or to stop by our stand at local farmer's markets.
Our goal as a diversified small farm is to be sustainable both economically and ecologically. We are committed to providing high quality products to local consumers while being good stewards of the land we gather from.
A few examples of our efforts to farm responsibly include:
Reduced use of pesticides and other chemical inputs
Certified Organic production for berries, vegetables, wine grapes, herbs and cut flowers
Raising rare/ heritage livestock breeds to conserve genetic diversity
Rotational grazing
Encouraging riparian buffers to restore health of waterways
Good Agricultural Practices to ensure safe, wholesome produce
Contribution of fresh, healthy produce to the local economy
